What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the oldest form of modern or western psychotherapy beginning about 300 years ago. Most of the best psychologists, psychiatrists, and therapists have used, or learned to use hypnotherapy and realized that it is one of the most powerful and effective ways to approach the psyche. I personally find it to be very powerful in developing the connection simultaneously in body-mind connection and developing the whole of one’s being. As well as a parallel to higher levels of consciousness; working reciprocally upward alongside a meditation practice. Carl Gustav Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist, pioneer of the field of Depth Psychology which I am deeply influenced by was using hypnosis. Many modern therapists and psychologists are re-discovering it for its efficacy. I decided to go directly to and develop skills and expertise in one of the most powerful modalities, and that is why I became a hypnotherapist.
Who do I want to work with?
I primarily work with men ages twenty to fifty looking to radically transform, create there most true vision, and be all in - living as fully as possible. Some of the communities I seek to serve are the following: People involved in any sort of challenging life transition, this could be leaving the military, leaving professional or high-level sports or academics, people experiencing or involved in spiritual or religious transitions, conversions, or crisis. People leaving rehabilitation of all kinds – simply those in challenging transition periods, dealing with identity, personality, and life changes. Addicts, veterans, those who would self-identify as growing up without guidance who are now adults. People leaving or involved in and seeking to deepen their religiosity or questioning it. As well as creatives, artists, and adventurers.
With my unique background in high level physical pursuits and pushing myself simultaneously physically and spiritually as far as possible I am also open to working with athletes, and other movers seeking to go to the highest level.
So who am I and where do I come from?
Well first, that is an ever-evolving question. Which I seek to continually re-answer. My main goal in my life, and eventually what I wish to help guide and facilitate in others is the path of the soul. I seek to as fully as possible become whole, risk living a larger life, and follow the path of the soul towards adventure, exploration and spirit. Hypnotherapy, life coaching, teaching, guidance, education – call it what you will is only a container of knowledge and understanding. At the end of the day only you are the master of your destiny, only you can know your soul, and only you are the authority in your own life. I have tools, skills, and am talented in this process – but also am just as much of a beginner in life as everyone else. I believe that teaching is the best path to learning. So, these practices and pursuits are how I support my own individuation towards wholeness and adventure. I seek not to get caught up in the dogma of therapy culture – and to eventually let it go myself towards the highest forms of adventure of the soul.
“As long as we resist deciding what works for us, what is confirmed by our experience rather than external authority, what opens rather than narrows our life, then we will never grow up.” – James Hollis
I began within practices of the body becoming elite in multiple sports and movement disciplines developing a deep connection to grounded practices that eventually opened up the path of the mind. Then I began reading hundreds of books on psychology, philosophy, religion, spirituality, anthropology, and more. Further developing a deep understanding of human physiology. Practicing meditation deeply. Going and practicing with a number of spiritual communities and combining science and spirit. This eventually led me to soul and spirit and the path of adventure and exploration. Leaving all of that behind in some ways to simply be as wholly who I am as possible.
I teach and explore paths of knowing who you are as deeply and widely as possible, self-exploration, and truth. This is the only true path in my opinion to healing. This is the path of risking a larger life and following your soul’s call. Creating a vision, following your highest dreams and risking crossing the threshold into who you truly are. I believe not answering this call – is much of the cause for many of life’s challenges. Hypnotherapy, stages of consciousness, transpersonal approaches, holistic thinking have all deeply inspired my work.
I do not guarantee any specific results, nor work directly with any diagnosed mental health conditions, or guarantee an easy path. I’m a sojourner across the sea, just as likely to be caught in storms as anyone else – but I am that - traveling across the sea of the soul. Teaching and learning side by side with you.
Yours, Dov
